The issue with Steam is that their stock of GW2 is not always updated whenever the game itself is updated, therefore a new player on Steam will need to go through a second download at first launch of the game after Steam installs it This can happen with a lot of games that have their own launchers, especially MMOs. Except, not Guild Housing at all but Player Housing. Guildwars 2 added Guild Halls and never got around to Player Housing, which ended up being the nail in the coffin for me and that game. As a new player, your goal shouldn't generally be to get to level 80 (the maximum base level) as fast as possible but rather to enjoy and learn the game. Each racial city has a home instance, which you'd likely have visited if you did the personal story. If you're human it's in Divinty's Reach. If you're Norn it's in Hoelbrak. If you're Asura it's Rata Sum. If you're Charr it's the Black Citadel and if you're Sylvari it's The Grove. Truth be told, you can enter the home instance in any city and All I remember Anet saying about player housing is that it will be coming after launch when guild halls get added. I don't think they've said anything about what they intend to do with it. I don't think they've even said if it'll be linked to the home instance or to the guild halls yet. As for the home instances, those are for the personal story. Overall I'm indifferent about having or not having housing. I claimed a guild hall for my solo guild, and am treating it as housing. It would be ideal to not have to cannibalize an existing system (a guild slot) to replicate a non existent one (player housing), but my itch for player housing is now satisfied. I want GW2 to add city districts inside the current Guild Halls with assigned player housing. Seems like the best way to get housing and make guild halls and scribing more useful to the average player. I guess they would need a way to get your furnitures back if you get kicked out.. The game already has so many assets for decorations in the form of guild hall decorations. I would like to see basically all the same decorations available through various vendors but with prices adjusted for solo purchasing. These decorations would only work in player housing, not in the guild halls. They are vastly different games. GW2 strives to reduce the grind, both getting to endgame and once there. A veteran can create a new endgame-ready character in two weeks of casual play. GW2 is also more like Skyrim. There's lots to explore, cool secrets and whatnot, a HUGE, beautiful, and actually fun map. klWq.
